SOME COMMON DISEASES ON SNEAKHEAD FISH AND HOW TO PREVENT AND TREAT THEM
FAQs Edwardsiella tarda infection
Causes

The main cause of pyelonephritis is Edwardsiella tarda bacteria.
Symptoms of an infected snakehead fish are lethargy, poor appetite, or anorexia.
When dissected, there are white spots on the liver and pancreas, and stains of pus on the gills.
Edwardsiella tarda infection spreads very fast. When the pathogen enters a pond for about 3 to 4 days, all the fish in the pond are infected.

How to prevent

The most important preventive measure is to well manage and control environmental factors in the pond (temperature, dissolved oxygen, water pollution) to prevent fish from being shocked by unfavorable environmental changes.
Periodically add Vitamin C to the feed before the disease season.

How to treat

When detecting changes in the color of the fish, liver, and kidney, stop feeding the fish and monitor the disease progress.
If there are many dead fish, mix antibiotics into the fish feed continuously for 3 to 5 days.
After the fish recovers, continue to monitor and supplement liver nutrition along with vitamin C.

FAQs Red-Sore Disease
Causes

Caused by bacteria of the genus Aeromonas causing fish diseases such as Aeromonas hydrophila, Streptococcus spp., etc.
Infected fish often have manifestations such as bleeding skin, bleeding operculum, red spots on the body, anal hemorrhage, red sores under the gills caused by hematoma, bleeding in the abdominal cavity and internal organs.

How to prevent

Choose good breeds, conduct the transportation properly, avoid causing injury to the breeding fish
Breed at a appropriate density

How to treat

Stop feeding fish for 2 to 3 days, then mix antibiotics with food to feed fish continuously for 5 days.
After the fish is cured, provide fish with vitamin C, minerals, vitamin B12 to enhance the health of the fish.

FAQs Skin sores and rashes
Causes

The disease caused by Pseudomonas fluorescens bacteria that causes sores and red spots on the body of fish.
When getting infected, the fish often eat very little or stop eating.
The disease usually occurs between the end of the rainy season (October to December) and the beginning of the dry season (January to February) every year.

How to prevent

Stabilize the pond environment; limit the growth of pathogens by applying formon and potassium permanganate every 15 days to reduce the density of bacteria, fungi, and parasites; using antibiotics that can kill bacteria to heal wounds on fish skin.
Provide enough feed with high nutritional content for the fish to increase the health and resistance of the fish. Regularly mix feed with digestive enzymes, vitamin C, and mineral premixes.

How to treat

When fish show signs of the disease, it is required to replace 50% of the water in the pond with clean water and treat the pond water with some antiseptic and bactericidal products such as BKC, TCCA, ZEO.
Mix antibiotics into fish feed continuously for 7 days.
